Out With the Old, In With the New

It's here!!!!!!!!!

I'm not even sad about my old sewing machine dying anymore. What old sewing machine? That thing is history. Now I know how men feel when they get a giant new flatscreen on the wall.

Meet my new best friend.

She is computerized, operates by a touchscreen and will keep sewing while I walk into the next room.

I am pretty much in heaven.

As soon as the machine came I practically locked myself in my sewing room. I made three aprons in no time. (But not before watching the tutorial CD first ... happy mom?)

And then I proceeded to embroider every inanimate object within reach. I would monogram my dog if he would sit still long enough.



I'm going to become that crazy housewife that has EVERYTHING monogrammed.

Guess whose family will be getting monogrammed towels, totes and shirts for every holiday and birthday here on out. Oh, and let's not forget an apron stocking-stuffer here and there.

They should be so lucky.

The End of an Era

There has been a death in the family. It is so sad. My trusty little sewing machine bit the dust last week. I have been in mourning. Practically just twiddling my thumbs with nothing to do.

With sewing off of the agenda, I have just been following my husband around for the past week. I'm pretty sure he is sick of me by now.

Lucky for him, a new machine is on the way.

In the meantime, I gained enough strength to enter back into my sewing room today. The dead machine still just sitting there on the table. I considered covering it in a shroud and creating a shrine to it. I can't bear the thought of just throwing it away.

I can't believe what a nerd I've become. I am moping around because my sewing machine broke. If I were cool, I would be moping around because my Corvette broke down. But I'm not cool. And I don't own a Corvette.

I am starting to get Carpal Tunnel from all of this thumb twiddling. So today, I decided to get out a few of my favorite creations and take pictures to share them with everyone.

The Ribbon Apron. I think this one is probably my favorite. I had fun picking all of the different spools of ribbon. And you had better believe I hid them from my thieving husband.

This is the apron that took first place at the county fair. I love it because it's so June Cleaver. Though according to one of our farm workers, it looks like something Betty Ruble (of Flinstones fame) would wear. I can't say I disagree.

The cherry ruffle apron. My mom picked out the fabric for this. Fun and retro.

This is one of the aprons I made in Colorado this summer.

I love this one because it is made purely from scraps my mom had left over from a baby quilt she made for a charity auction a few years back.

The Moo Moo Tutu! That's a towel on the bottom layer. Perfect for wiping off your hands while cooking or it can double as a hot pad to take things out of the oven.

The Moo Moo Tutu also comes in green.

And blue, as well as, light pink, bright orange, purple and many other colors.

The Flower Power Towel. Say that fast five times.
