When It's Just Meant To Be

Last week my parents celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary.

And next week my brother and his beautiful bride will celebrate their first.

In honor of that, a look back...

At their engagement.

And wedding.

Because it's a weekend that's worth reliving again.

Happy anniversary everyone!!

Oh, Baby!

In the past week I turned 29, hosted a friend's baby shower and realized my butt will never have the same shape or lift it used to.

In other words, I am all of a sudden feeling super old.

But dwelling on age is so cliche and I know you don't want to see pictures of my arse, so let's talk about this little bundle of joy that is coming soon.

Less that two short years ago, I posted about Kiya's wedding day.

I can't believe how fast the time has gone, and now she will be a momma in just a matter of weeks.

I wanted to theme the baby shower after the little guy's adorable nursery.

So I did what I do best, I went straight to the fabric store.

Balloons and streamers are overrated when you have a glue gun and sewing machine at your disposal.

Apparently diaper cakes are all the rage right now.

So I crammed 94 sized three diapers into that sucker, wrapped some fabric around it and voila, you have a three-tied advanced-leak-protected super-absorbent not-so-culinary delight.

I apparently bought way too much fabric for my little diaper cake confection. So much so that I had enough left to make a quilted blanket for the baby.

And streamers. Okay, I caved in to the streamers.

But it was the (real) cake that stole the show.

The baker did an amazing job on it.

Kiya wanted to have the shower at her home on their farm.

She has a beautiful backyard overlooking a field.

Perfect for a Sunday afternoon get-together.

I have diagnosed myself with Embroideryitis.

It is an affliction that causes a person to monogram everything in sight.

Including ever single party favor with the baby's initials.

They say the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Kiya got so many cool gifts from all of her friends and family.

I seriously don't think she needs to go shopping until the baby is at least two years old.

I have made and still have plans to make so many things for little Campbell, but I narrowed it down to a couple things for the whole gift-opening charade.

Of course I had to make something John Deere-esque because apparently everyone loves John Deere these days.

Yack.

And the burp cloths and onesie on the right have their family farm logo on it. The talented Miss Kiya designed the logo herself.

This baby is coming into a house divided. Dad is a Mountaineer, Mom is a Hokie.

So I made both.

But I am secretly hoping Campbell will go to Virginia Tech. With WVU joining the Big XII, I have way too much smack to talk for him to go there.

Congratulations Lyle and Kiya!!!

And I can't help but share this because it is so hilarious. Kiya's Facebook status that evening after the shower:

"You know you're hugely pregnant when you walk in to get take out and the first thing you hear is "holy shit!"
